Phuket, Thailand, is best known for its stunning beaches, however, the region is also home to a thriving golf scene. There is a total of eight championship golf courses to choose from in Phuket and these combine with the great scenery, crystal clear water and amazing night life, to make Phuket a great destination in Asia for a golf holiday. Try Blue Canyon Country Club where Tiger Woods twice won the Johnnie Walker Classic. The golf courses make full use of the abundance of water and trees in the area and with many hotels and resorts located on the golf courses themselves, visitors do not need to worry about travel, which is great.
The standard of the golf courses is very high, a number of which have been used to stage the Thailand Open plus other, international events. Danang, is fast becoming Vietnam’s go to place for golfers, thanks to its four world class golf courses. Danang is connected to Hoi An, thanks to modern roads and tunnels and it’s certainly worth making the short trip, to sample the tremendous golf courses in the region. In addition to the golf courses, Danang has plenty of history to share with its visitors and is the sight of the first landing of US forces during the Vietnam war but is also home to one of Asia’s best beaches, giving those who like a bit of culture and relaxation the perfect mix.
Perhaps the pick of the golf courses is the Montgomerie Links Vietnam and the Danang Golf Club, both of which are ranked as being two of Asia’s finest golf courses. #3. Bali – Indonesia

Just one of over 18,000 islands which make up the archipelago of Indonesia, Bali is both relaxing and awe inspiring in equal measure. In terms of golf, it may not have the largest selection of golf courses in Asia but what it lacks in numbers, it makes up for in quality. Due to the nature of the landscape in Bali, with the ocean and mountains surrounding the most populated areas of the island, golf course architects have been forced to use their creativity and the results are superb. There are five golf courses in Bali, one of which is a 9-hole course and each offer stunning views of the local landscape and features. Some of the golf courses are located in the mountains, with others next to the ocean and they rank right up there with the best Asia has to offer.
#4. Bintan Island

Situated only a short boat ride from Singapore’s airport, is another lovely Indonesian Island, called Bintan. This is one of the leading resort islands in Indonesia and being so close to Singapore, receives plenty of visitors, many of which are heading over to play a round of golf. The majority of the golf courses in Bintan, are located within resorts, with long white sand beaches and tropical jungle terrain. There are four golf courses in total, which wind their way around the island and the prices are good value. The likes of Greg Norman and Gary Player have designed golf courses here, including the Bintan Lagoon and Ria Bintan Golf Club. Being just a 1-hour ferry ride from Singapore, Bintan is easily one of the best destinations in Asia, to enjoy a golf holiday.
#5. Langkawi – Malaysia

For the final of our five destinations, we head to Langkawi, which is located in Malaysia. Featuring South Asia’s first UNESCO Global Geopark, Langkawi is a great destination to visit in its own right. However, it is also home to one of the best golf courses in Asia, Golf Club Datai Bay.
At the World Golf Awards, held in November 2014, Datai Bay was presented with the award for the World’s Best New Golf Course, a great honour indeed. Designed by golfing legend, Ernie Els, the course has gone from strength to strength since winning the award and joins two other golf courses in Langkawi, making the island a lovely place to play golf and relax.
